Sister Elizabeth Ashley Smith: Day 367 Othello, Wa. And I'll be a....HAPPY SNOWMAN!!

Hello again family!! It was so great to talk to you this week! Sorry my brain was all over the place, but I was just so pumped to see you!! It's been a while! haha :)

I actually have a lot to tell you from the past few days. Brace yourselves for random stories! :)

Okay so first off, starting Christmas morning, "freezing fog" settled over the town of Othello, and it's still here. Which means everything and anything that pokes out is completely covered in frost. The sun isn't out, and we feel like we're in a black and white movie most of the time. But it is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Oh so beautiful. The downside? It's colder than crap. Sunday we were out knocking doors and trying to contact potentials for FOUR HOURS out in the cold. My face is starting to get dry patches from freezing and thawing and being cold and stuffs. Yayyyyyyy. haha

We had Leila's baptism on Saturday!! It went so well! Her parents Jessica and Alfonso were both crying during her baptism. We're working on getting them married so they can be baptized as well.

haha we were at this Hispanic lady's house for dinner one night with the ZL's and she made us eat SO many tamales. Luckily they were super good, but I was full after 3. And we had to eat until they were gone....so afterwards Elder Davis is trying to share a scripture and hurry to get out of the house for our next appt, but this lady was going off on all these random tangents. So finally he's like "Okay, we have an appointment, can we say a prayer before we go?" and she said "No, have some ice cream first!" and she hands us these HUGE Klondike bars. He said we could just eat them in the car and she was like "No, eat them here first." hahaha the look of determination that came into all of our eyes was priceless. We DOWNED those suckers faster than anything, said dat prayer, and got out. hahaha typical missionary work.

Sunday was a cool day for us. We spoke in Sacrament meeting (in the other ward this time) and then did that whole tracting thing for four hours. And we were super discouraged. No one was home, we were tired, freezing, all of it. Just down in the dumps. So we stopped at the church to warm up for a second and figure out where to go next, and this lady comes up to us and says "I just have to let you know that because of your talks last week, you two convinced a girl to go on her mission, and she's turning in her papers this week." WHAAA?? So cool!!! The Spirit is awesome.
And THEN we went to this member's house to teach a lesson, and it went really well, and then they had us go "shopping" in their huge food storage shed! We seriously have enough food for the month. It was the nicest thing ever, and it totally made our night. Heavenly Father is definitely watching out for us :)
